Actually....There was a dome at Foster pool. My parents along with many others at the time worked very hard to raise the money to purchase it. We sold t-shirts, buttons, and I can't remember what else. "Put the Lid On" was the theme. We worked long and hard to fund it. It was such an asset to this city, great for Lakewood rec. swim team and even the high school teams benefitted because at the time we only had a 4 lane, 25 yard pool at the high school ( We referred to it as The Swamp) Anyways, the dome was supposed to withstand winds up to 75 mph. One very bad storm, one very sad night, it blew over. I would love to see another one built ,or even a separate indoor pool at one of the parks. We paid for it once, we could certainly try again.

It was definitely a cool idea... Jennifer, did the company that installed dome ever comment on why the dome blew away or refund any of the money for the dome?

Isn't that what insurance is for? What a shame that all that hard earned money just blew away!!

I am not really sure what happened afterwards. There were a lot of rumors and speculation about the incident. I am sure insurance would have covered it however, I will have to ask around. Perhaps my parents will remember more.
