We have friends coming into visit us in Lakewood in a couple of weeks, and they're looking for a place to stay. Lakewood doesn't have any hotels, does it? They're looking for affordable, but not necessarily the cheapest.
Any recommendations? What's close to Lakewood without having to drive 10-15 minutes down the highway?
Recommend a hotel?

Lakewood does have a hotel...Days Inn, but I know absolutely nothing about the condition or service or anything. You can get to it from either Clifton or Lake, and it's just west of W. 117. I'd go check it out since it is close and probably relatively inexpensive.

Looks like it's about $64/night not including tax.

It's filthy, noisy and horrible. I can't figure out why it is able to stay in business except that it serves people who come to Lakewood to party and stay there becuase they are too drunk to drive home - noisy disruptive crowd.
I had family stay there one holiday when my house was full - they still talk about it.

There's the Travel Lodge as well. Both are up between Clifton and Lake on the east end. Seems that normally we use either the 150th Marriott which is easy if you are going back and forth to the airport or any of the hotels off I-90 at Crocker in..... ewwww Westlake
.
Maybe someone on the deck will be willing to rent out their home to your friends for the weekend. Anyone interested in starting a B&B for Melissa's friends?

Closest are the cluster on 90 b/t Clague and Columbia. The Super 8 is a converted something-else and is fine. The Courtyard is a little nicer but pricier. Both are a quick 10 min drive.
The Crocker Rd exit, about 3 mi further away, has a Hampton, a RedRoof, and what used to be Holiday Inn but now is something else. All I'm sure would be fine depending on whether they wanted to spend $60 or $100 a night.
Never heard anything good about either of the two motels located in Lakewood proper. Wherever I go, I avoid Days Inns like the plague.
