Why Ed Can't Win...

The interesting thing is the number of absentee ballots. Now that you can get them without having to have a reason - it makes things easier. Plus Mayor George's campaign sent out nice pre-printed forms. My family took advantage of this. I wonder how many others did. That would be a good question for the Deck. How many of you voted Absentee - how many plan to in the General election?

I was not attempting to be scientific. I'm just stating my personal experience. Many people that I have talked to even this last weekend were still undecided. Many of the people that I talked to were deciding between Ed and Ryan. They had things they liked and didn't like about both of them.

In the end they know Tom and sometimes it is better the devil you know than the devil you don't. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Tom win - in fact I think he will - but I'm not sure who will come in second - any ideas?

It could be a toss up between Ed and Ryan.

I think Ryan's theatrical campaigning and Ed's experience will favor the Fitzgerald camp favorably, but granted not all of Lakewood reads the observation deck.

I came home late last night after watching my girlfriend break the record for most sets in a volleyball game for her high school so I was in a great mood..only to check the Deck and read "why Ed can't win.." which made me run to the store and get new diapers

I have to be honest, my street is decked out with Demro signs..no Fitzgerald signs, so that's why it could very well be a toss up.

Luckily for us readers, Mr.Demro is providing the public a sample of his true demeanor and leadership by posting his true thoughts and feelings frequently on the Observation Deck.

Just went and voted at McKinley - didn't get a head count but they said there was a good turnout so for.

Saw Dan Shields and Stan Austin at another site (way home from library) and they said it was light turnout but a lot of absentees were starting to come in.

On Mr. Demro's most recent campaign video he says he's the best candidate because Mr. Fitzgerald "goes home to a family". Mr. Demro is plainly indicating men and women with families "need not apply". Tell me, is this what the Republican Party slogan of "protecting traditional family values" means?

Mr. Demro, in his "Hollywood" video, goes on to say Mayor George should not be elected because he is "looking forward to the end of his years". Does this mean a fifty-six year old man or woman "need not apply". Does governmental and life experience count? Is George Bush too old to be President? Should all of the Justices on the Supreme Court hang it up? Did Reagan have a little vim and vigor?

Mayor George has a family, maturity, credibility, and at least twenty-five more years experience than Mr. Demro. By Mr. Demro's convoluted logic, Mr. George should therefor lose. Of course the voters are wiser. Mayor George will win by a wide margin.

The polls are open late. Is it all right, Mr. Demro, for those with family responsibilities and/or those over fifty-five to vote?

Geez. Piling on is not becoming of a candidate, or representative of a candidate, either.

From what I hear, Mayor George communicates very well with representatives all the way up to Governor. Don't we need that? How will that go with Demro if he reacts emotionally?

FYI You can go up several streets and see several signs for the three candidates.

Ivor, the street seemed pretty split when we were on it!!! The young couple that bought our house are democrats you might want to know!

If he really said those things in his video it is appalling! Almost comical if it wasn't so stupid.

Honestly,
I have not met any people campaigning for Fitzgerald that weren't nice people. I think the people campaigning for a candidate say a lot.

my first voting experience was really cool. i was eager to vote and glad that I could finally have the privilege to do so.

it makes you wonder what the totals would be like if every registered voter in Lakewood voted today. When I went to my station I was the only one in the room when I voted...so I was curious to see just how many people would show up.

I talked to a friend who's currently in Salzburg, Austria studying abroad. He took the time to fill out a absentee ballot before he left which tells you a lot about our youth.

Many of my friends voted today.
