Campaign Finance Reports
Rhonda,
Here is the information you were hoping for, filed at the Board of Elections last week. Just a point of interest:
Total Funds Raised by Candidates:
Ryan Patrick Demro- $20,428.22
Tom George- $10,420.00
Ed FitzGerald- $9,835.00
The actual reports can be accessed via my website www.ryandemro.com they are right at the top of the home page. They are an interesting read, trust me.

Re: Campaign Finance Reports
At a glance two things interested me:Ryan Patrick Demro wrote:They are an interesting read, trust me.
1. 43% of the Mayors contributions came from Canton Ohio. One of the contributors has the same name as the name of the partnership that just paid 270% of the appraised value for Drug Mart Plaza.
2. The Mayor's previous campaign finance report showed a loan balance of $13,000. The new campaign finance report indicates a previous loan balance of $7,000 and a current loan balance of $7,000.
I'm no expert on campaign finance reports but if the previous outstanding loan balance is $13,000 shouldn't the begining balance on the following report be $13,000. And if the previous balance was incorrect shouldn't an amended report be filed? If the $7,000 is correct who paid the $8,000? And why isn't it listed?
When I picked up the previous reports from the Board of Elections I was told that that report was the most recent report. That report showed a begining balance of $8,000 with a further loan amount of $5,000 loaned on December 15, 2006 leaving a balance of $13,000.

You always seem to leave the two you have given money to out of these discussions.

Come on Jim,
Does questioning the messenger change the message?
Do you have information on this Drug Mart plaza deal?
Do you know why their are inconsistencies on George's financial reports?
Does writing a check to a candidate forfeit your right to question the opponents?
Lets face the facts rather than coming up with a witty one liner and running away from the real issues.

I think it helps to know, where the stones are coming from.
Drug Mart, all mayoral candidates support it? That is is unbelievably underwhelming in scope and vision. That paperwork is available through the city.
No, it does not forfeit your right.
Running away from real issues?!
This fine fall morning, my real issues is still trying to get over the last couple nights, and the pains that have come out of it.
While, there are many serious distractions in my life right now, this election cycle has put me over the edge.
Ryan, I think you know me well enough to understand that edge was never and easy place to get me to.
Running away from real issues, you're killing me.

Re: Campaign Finance Reports
I didn't see anything on Councilman Fitgerald's or Councilman Demro's contribution report that was noteworthy except the amount collected by Demro. I was surprised at the total.Jim O'Bryan wrote:You always seem to leave the two you have given money to out of these discussions.
About 80% of Demro's contributions in dollars came from a 44107 zip code. He has no outstanding loans. He has $4,644.13 on hand.
About 53% of Fitgerald's contributions in dollars came from a 44107 zip code. Most of the rest was from City of Cleveland Zips. He has no outstanding loans. He has $5,421.17 on hand.
Since I think that the final race will be between Fitzgerald and Demro it looks like at this time neither candidate has a financial advantage.
I hope these two meet early and often in a series of debates that deal less with personalities and more about issues. I guess that's political advice, although since my candidates generally lose I am not sure what my advice is worth.
As to the loan balance on the Mayor's report: My guess is that is a simple error. I made my share when I was a campaign treasurer.
As to the contributions from Canton:

In perusing Demro's financial report I came to the conclusion that he should be very, very, very grateful to Susan Metelko and Peggy Wauserman - very, very very grateful.

Poll
I am only aware of one poll that was taken in the Spring. I was never told the results. All I heard was that the re-elect numbers for Mayor George were unusually low.Jennifer Desilets wrote:Bill,
You said that you think the final race will be between Fitzgerald and Demro. Are there polls to support this that I have overlooked?
Jennifer
Since nothing has happened in the last 6 months that would increase those numbers and a number of things have happened that I think would decrease those numbers my guess is that the Mayor won't make it past the first round.
Translation: Just a wild guess on my part.
