For the Record:
Joe Dangelo has had nothing to do with the Conception, Creation, and on-going support of the Block Watch of Ward 3 (s. of Madison) as he infers in his campaign literature.
The Block Watch of Ward 3 (s. of Madison) is very active with 22 streets and well over 150 individuals and businesses involved - DAILY. Our numbers increase weekly. This was, and continues to be a Community Based Effort.
Mr. Dangelo states in his Observer Article that he wishes to work with the Block Watches springing up in Ward 3 "whether it is funding, passing out fliers, or providing the cookies."
Well, Mr. Dangelo, other than signing on as a member, failed even the most basic of litmus tests - attending the first meeting for his own street!
Wishing and "doing" are two different things.
Taking Action is what our Block Watch is all about.
Hope to see you at the next meeting Joe so your wishes can become reality.
Where are the cookies JOE?

Dear Susan,
You are correct I did not conceive or create the new block watch programs which have sprung up around Ward 3. I have never claimed to have done so. In fact, when people have asked I have credited yourself and my opponent Diane Helbig. Your efforts along with the efforts of Diane are commendable and I thank you for them.
In the very beginning of my campaign, in fact, during the first literature drop that I did at the end of July, I spoke with you about how the Block Watch Program was not a political venture but a community based one that was fueled by the residents themselves. To that end, I felt in the middle of my campaign, that it would be inappropriate for me to attend a meeting as I did not want to be accused of political grandstanding.
In my campaign, I have made every effort to communicate that I as a councilman will strongly support the block watch programs. It is that notion that I was trying to convey in the Lakewood Observer article.
I apologize if in someway I have offended you.
Sincerely,
Joe Dangelo
