I went to Craig's list in Cleveland to advertise Star Spectrum's display cases for sale for Betty, and somehow came across this blog of a Michigan family. Not only did this blog remind me how small my problems are in life, but humbled me in many ways. In a nutshell, this spiritual and positive young couple has adopted one girl (age 2 now) and most recently another baby, born at 24 weeks. It is a miracle that he is alive and not only have they exhausted their resources, but medicaid is about to cut off the baby's insurance while he is still at Rainbow!!
I am basically posting this under Lakewood because although it is not a Lakewood family, I would love to show this loving family who Lakewood is. I am putting the link to their blog for all who would like to read. They had asked for any assistance with caring for their two-year old while being in the hospital with their pre-mature newborn. I am not sure how references are checked.
What I would hope to do for this family is to gather any gift certificates we can for Lakewood businesses, restaurants, entertainment, massage (for these parents who have given everything for two children who needed homes) etc. If anyone knows of businesses willing to donate, or organizations, please PM me or go directly to their blog. I believe they are also registered at Target for household items. Every bit helps when you are suddenly without resources.

If we could even get a few certificates for dinner and a massage/movie, I would love the opportunity to care for their two year old while they had a night out on Lakewood! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Jim,
I know that you sometimes get gift certificates or theater tickets sent to the LO or have barter that you may not be using at a store or restaurant or hair salon. If so, let me know if you would like to donate any to this family who really deserves it. Thanks in advance.
