Ward 2 Candidates Night?

Post by Dan Shields »

Ward 2 -

I would like to extend an invitation to all Ward 2 candidates to choose a place and time for debates on current issues facing Lakewood. I think we should try and plan at least two or three to cover all topics. I have an idea - why don't we just accept the issues as outlined so far by the mayoral candidates, and run with them. I say Thursday or Friday nights. Any thoughts?

Dan,
A good idea. I'd be happy to discuss the issues with you and our colleague in Ward 2. Perhaps we can follow on the Ward 3 candidates' format as well?

Debate

Thanks for the reply. I think this should be somewhat easy to do as there are just the three candidates. I'm not so sure about the Ward 3 candidates, though, from reviewing the thread I cannot tell if they have a moderator, a debate format, or are just creating a time for residents to show up and ask questions. In any event, let us shoot for a time and a place, and maybe we can get someone to step up and moderate/present questions, etc. I don't feel that we have to be tied to Ward 2, but if we can find the best place in Ward 2 all the better. Ken Warren, can we use the Library?

Dan,
For Ward 3 it will be an informal gathering of candidates and residents...more of a meet and greet format. There will not be a moderator and it's not intended to be a debate.

It's just a way for the residents to meet the candidates and talk to them one on one in a relaxed atmosphere.

I hope that helps clarify for you.

Thank you for clarifying. OK, I guess we should do a meet and greet...how about Thursday or Friday at Bar2. This is the old Niko's at the corner of Westwood and Detroit. They are a new place, they are doing a good job with the food and atmosphere, and they are flexible. Any thoughts?

Also, does anyone know Thomas Corrigan? Last I checked, he's running in this race, but I haven't seen him around.

We should all three do this or the Ward 3 candidates are going to make us look bad.
