LO, Lakewood Police, and friends thank Marathon Man!

Yesterday's morning around 9:45 on a cold rainy day, a woman was walking in front of a very empty Madison Park, when a male jumped out of a car and knocked her to the ground stealing her purse.

On the other side of the street the guys were working at Rob's Lakewood Marathon and Hitch, and saw the woman get violently knocked to the ground. While one called 911, the other jumped into his truck and started to follow the car, also calling police.

The police jumped in very quickly, as usual, and the chase lead down Madison, through Clifton Park, and onto the Clifton/Lake bridge over the Emerald Canyon. The thugs driving on the wrong side of the street until they pulled one of those police, spin maneuvers, stopping the car, and arresting all suspects.

Yesterday I was speaking with another resident and she mentioned it was terrible. I had to agree all violent crimes are terrible, but...

This group was committing robberies across the county, came to Lakewood, where good neighbors watching out for each other went into action. Lakewood Police joined the chase nearly immediately, and the criminals were caught. While the thugs sit in Lakewood jail, county and state prison they will have plenty of time to tell other crooks, "Don't go to Lakewood. You will get caught."

Thanks as always, to the Lakewood Police who not only active quickly, but as importantly, handled the delicate situation with the victim, who is a friend very well.

To the Masked Marathon Man, I can never thank you enough for your actions, and for investing in Lakewood. I would hope the mayor calls and gets you something for your brave actions.

A terrible gray rainy violent day, with a silver lining.

I love this city.

We couldn't believe how the folks from Marathon absolutely went above and beyond the good neighbor call of duty. It seemed like there were others along the route who assisted in pointing out where the suspects had gone.

Thank you to all the good neighbors who helped. Because of your actions, LPD closed another case in minutes, and as Jim mentioned, it appeared these folks were on a crime spree - until they got to Lakewood.
