LHS Girls Varsity Soccer

Post by Joe Ott »

I stopped by to see a little of the soccer game Saturday.

Lkwd Girls Varsity lost 9-0. In addition, several team members were injured . Tessa Endress and Hillary Vigh collided resulting in Tessa getting several stitches to her forehead and Hillary receiving stitches on the inside and outside of her lip.

It was a tough day for LHS Sports.

Here are a couple pics for anybody interested.

Hope Tessa and Hillary are fine.

Thanks for looking.

The girls are okay and hope to be cleared to play Weds. They spent some quality time in the Lakewood ER, were later joined by a Boy's JV soccer player with a concussion.

Within about 15 minutes in the first half, Lakewood was down 3 starters: Tessa, Hilary and Morgan Schroeder, who injured a knee. Morgan was able to walk it off and return in the second half.

Medina is state ranked with a nationally ranked player. A VERY good team. Tough game. Both on the players and the parents.

 I was going to make some comment about inheriting a hard head limiting the injury but I just leave it at that

Well, I don't know anything about soccer, but from the looks of it, they didn't lose because they weren't trying.
Sure looked to me as though each player was trying their hardest.

I was impressed. That's one tough sport.

Hope the injuries heal quickly.

Photos from tonight's great games against St.Joes are up.

Junior Varsity won 1-0, and Varsity won by a nice score of 4-0.

St.Joe's is a very very tough team and I don't recall the last time lakewood has beaten them. I think it has been a decade? anyway, it's a great win and a great effort from the team.

The new coaches are really turning this program around for the better.

And Tessa Endress and Hilary Vigh were both playing today and both played a great game. They were the two girls that collided in the previous game. Hilary had her stitches removed today before the game. Both girls were bandaged up today but they're on their way to a very speedy recovery.

more details in the blog.
Great win girls!

Ivor,
Thanks for those awesome pictures! Both were great games last night. The girls have really made strides and have worked hard with their new coaches. The soccer program has improved tremendously.
I might add, the Lakewood Girls did beat St Joe's either in 2001 or 2002.

Thanks, Mary Breiner
