Monarch/Viceroy Butterflies

Post by Lynn Farris »

Yesterday Don and I counted 10 butterflies all over Lakewood as we were going about town. I rarely recall seeing more than 1 a year in the past. Is something going on that we have so many amazing Monarch or Viceroy Butterflies around?

Lynn, I was just talking about that with a neighbor. There are several in my yard and as I went to and from work yesterday there were several on each street I was on.

Maybe it's all that swamp milkweed we all planted last year!

They are Monarchs that are migrating. We have a couple of hundred gathering in our backyard on Lake. http://www.learner.org/jnorth/monarch/
