An Experience of a Life Time!!

Post by Suzie Dean »

I just wanted to say thank you for all the help from my family, friends, neighbors, and community for the help and support in the 3-day adventure that I took on. I recommend anyone and everyone to walk the event at least once. It truly is an experience of a life time. The event will be here again in 2008. I can not wait. I will be walking the even again next year.

Suzie-- While we may not have posted, I think that all of us admired your effort. And, I will say on behalf of us all, that we support your cause. Maybe next year it can be staged on "our" side of town so we can all jump in and help out.

Suzie -
Thanks for walking, and thanks for keeping us updated. Maybe you can give us all a little more detail on how the whole weekend went. I'm sure many here who support your efforts would like to hear the highlights (and even the low points) of the walk.

From a step
To a mile
To an hour
To a day
To 3 days
To 60 miles
To an experience of a life time!

Dan,
No words can truly describe the experience it was. All the stories that I heard were amazing. The people I met were amazing. The survivors that were walking had such hope and faith in what we were doing. So many people came out and cheered us on…even in the rain. There were high school football teams, and cheerleaders that came out to support us as well. If you intend on walking…I hope you like chicken. Showering in a semi wasn’t exactly the comforts of home. Either was sleeping in two man tents. I certainly didn’t sign up to walk in the cold and rain all day on Sunday either!!!But none of these things compare to going through chemotherapy or losing a loved one to cancer.

I just hope that next year’s walk comes through Lakewood so we can show them the kind of community we are!!
