Passage to India, a restaurant from Crocker Park has moved to Lakewood and is open but not officially yet.
I had heard they were coming with another Crocker Park business to Lakewood and was surprised to see them up and running weeks before they were supposed to be.
While talking with the owner today the thing he said which impressed me was that a survey he did indicated that a large majority of his clients were from Lakewood. So instead of putting up with the high prices he has decided to move to the wood.
It is in the old Amicis which is opposite of John's Dinner on Detroit.
Food looked and smelled wonderful.

This is great news. Everyone understands the value of prized ethnic restaurants to Lakewood's built environment and life-style. The Indian grocery store is also coming to Lakewood, accroding to the owner.
The restaurant owner also mentioned how City Hall was really helpful to him.
So let's give credit where credit is due.
Each little win with unique local shops builds our sense of positive economic development and convenient ammenities for Lakewood.
With Venitzia on the way as well to the old Chat Room location, I think we are beginning to see the kind of storefront development that satisfies many tastes.

A couple other things in this post. The owner was ecstatic about being in Lakewood, and praised everyone at City Hall including the Building Department, that were much easier to work with than Westlake.
Just ask him what he thinks of Lakewood.

I used to meet DL and DH for wings at Sullivan's on Tuesday night $0.30 each. Pretty darn good and meaty.
Never had the wings at Lakewood Tavern, but we have found out the place is pretty darn good.
What are we testing next?

Is this an authentic Indian restaurant run by Indians or is this like one of those "Amish" restaurants run by Mennonites? Or like the "Greek" restaurants in Cleveland that are run by Indians or Lebanese? 
If it is authentic, they should have plenty of vegan and vegetarian offerings.
I will be sure to check it out when I get a chance, but my rule is to wait at least a month after a new restaurant opens so that they can work out the bugs (not the creepy crawly kind, at least let's hope not).

It is real, and real good.
They are not officially open. They are trying to work out the bugs over the next two weeks. One of the guys in my office is a friend of the family and actually steered them to Lakewood. so we had a secret heads up.
Officially open in a couple weeks. But for those tired of the drive. We can get it good Indian now. Mention the LO and you will be well taken care of.

Dan Slife offered delicious appetizers from the India Garden's sampler pack to go (at $6) at tonight Second Harvest Soiree at Bela.
Everyone was impressed with the great taste.
From the buffet line, Chicken Tika, Vegetable Fritters, Eggplant, Spicy Chicken and much more down the line.

We had some guest musicians/friends in town from Madrid and London this week for a concert and needed to feed 9 or 10 hungry people last night around 9 pm. We ordered 8 or so different take out dishes from India Garden , had more than enough food to go around and hard a hard time deciding which was the best as all the dishes were fantastic. The out-of-towners were especially impressed with the food and that is no small compliment coming from a Londoner who grew up with Indian food and curries.
The owners are really nice and they even comped us some different types of bread to go with our large order. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, and also the Indian market that will be opening a few blocks away soon, the owner there is very helpful and willing to share recipe ideas and cooking methods for all the products they carry.
