David

Why read crap like that?

Why post crap like that?

Here lies the problem with blogs.

This BS deserves to be ignored.

By the way his name is not Joe Carter, this is the same crap pushed through the FreeTimes, SunPapers, and other rags that never bothered to even check names.

This should never have been brought into a forum where people
use real names.

Unless you posted it it because you believe it and agree.

FWIW

This was in the paper, not in their blog.

A pretty not-well-thought-out letter if you ask me. He didn't do much research, if at all.

Oh, so why move something forward that is wrong, bad, ill written and nothing more than a faceless namelless attack on a good city and a good person like Ken?

On the flip side the LO Deck get many more hits than the scene. we are approcahing numbers equal to the library at 4 million hits a month.

I like Pete Kotz, but this is nothing more than BS.

FWIW

Dave you have to get your prints tonight at bela.

Well I don't know much about the library board makeup, but it does bring up a good question:

What is the demographic makeup of the library board? Are there minorities on the board? What's the socio-economic makup? Is it representative of the community?

I would like to think that they do reflect the community since I think they've done a great job in my decades living Lakewood at making the library a great center for the community.

Bryan:

I believe the seven trustees span the following generational age ranges: 70s, 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s. There’s male and female. Skill-sets include legal, information technology, business, HR, finance, public education, non-profit and military. Life situations span working, parenting, stay-home and retired. North and south sides are represented. There is a good mix of church affiliations.

Each decade the Board of Trustees appoints a Citizens Committee to study the system and make recommendations about the future. A careful and inclusive scan of community identities, demographics and stakeholders is part of a citizen appointment and planning process that greatly informs service responses. In the process prospective interests and talents for trusteeship are often cultivated.

Thanks Ken, I appreciate once again the time you've taken to detail Library data.

As I said, in all my time in Lakewood I've always felt the library has done an outstanding job of meeting the community's needs. It's good now to have the facts to refute the article referenced in this thread.

Ken thanks for giving us this information. I think both yourself and the board of trustees do a fantastic job of serving this community. The library is truly an asset.

I have heard complaints that there are absolutely no public internet terminals available until the renovation's complete. I feel for the folks who have learned to depend on the library's resources. Sounds like this guy didn't get the message that the closing was temporary.

hah, that gave me a chuckle.

the kind of chuckle that you get when you see a drunk fan, who has been obnoxious all evening, trip down the steps at Jacobs Field.

time after time, dozens of people agree that the library is "the center of Lakewood". we've had discussions about this before and I know everyone remembers them.

This is the kind of stuff that puts more for sale signs up in this city. More and more people buy into the crap that's available for them to read.

I hope no one on this board buys into any of the stuff out there. There's a big difference between a fact-based, logical opinion and a hidden agenda to demoralize the positive that's present in this city.

just another day in Lakewood.

*yawn* I'm off to bed. concert coverage all day tomorrow, interviews and photo shoots here i come!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!
