Inquiring minds want to know...why the light carpeting, which is already getting quite dirty???

I appreciate the concern over the light carpet, which is, indeed, presenting a challenge right now.

There are 22 different colors of paint in the building, along with a palette that draws inspiration from Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen. While the public’s response to the color scheme has been immensely positive, I have communicated to the design team that the light carpet will require additional support, perhaps in the way of mats.

Rather than simply accepting the Cintas mat service, which we had in the old building, I wanted to give the design the opportunity to prescribe a functional correction consistent with the design intent.

Right now, all traffic for all AV materials and much of the second floor is moving through the new book room due to phasing of the project. I also believe there may be residue from the roadwork and newly paved parking lot tracking inside.

That said, I am working with the design firm on solutions, including matting. In addition, my maintenance services team is evaluating cleaning supplies, tools and strategies.

Ken-- Here's another suggestion:

How about a Drop Off Bin or station at the circulation desk like the one at the Arthur Avenue entrance at the old location?

That way patrons can relieve themselves of the old materials and have free hands for their new selections.

Stan - there is a book drop in the area to the left of the circulation desk, across from the bathrooms. It is a metal "mailbox" built into the wall.

Went through the library last night on my way to pick up my share from City Fresh - The Leaf Community.

I saw the poster board indicating where each collection was. Made it a lot easier to figure out the new setting.

Is there one for outside access yet?

There isn't an outside drop.....YET. One of the elements that we insisted on was drive through, which is a very popular amenity. The outside book drop in part of the Phase II renovation. Unlike the old drop, this one will deposit materials directly to the service area.
