City Council, Ward 3

Post by Joe Dangelo »

Dear Mary,

I am planning on running for Lakewood City Council in Ward 3. I have lived in Lakewood for 3 years while I was in Law School. After finishing, I decided that this was the place for me, as I appreciate it's diversity, closeness to everything, and neighborhood feel. It is also a great place for young people.

Recently, I have been troubled by the problems that Ward 3 and the entire city has suffered from regarding safety. As an Assistant Medina County Prosecuting Attorney I feel that I may have something to give back to this great community in this area.

I am the Vice-President of the Lakewood Democratic Club and subscribe to Lakewood Alive.

I hope that in the coming months I get a chance to talk to you and everyone about the direction of Ward 3 and the City of Lakewood. I promise to work hard to gain your confidence that I am a viable option to succeed Councilman Seelie.

Respectfully,
Joe Dangelo

I hope Steve Davis decides to run!

He is down to earth and unassuming, yet possesses a great intellect and is forceful and persuasive in his arguments. I served with Steve on the 2005 Charter Review Commission. He knows and understands the Charter, and has a great working knowledge of politics (and politicians) in Lakewood. He would be a great addition to Council, as he would remain a truly independent voice for what is best for the city.

As those of you who follow the Observer know, Steve would bring a well-rounded, positive point-of-view to city hall.

Are we talking about the same Steve Davis?

As of 8:00pm last night the answer was no.

Ward 3 has a lot happenig right now.

Joe Dangelo

Welcome to the LO Deck and we have special section for candidates to post so that you can be assured of getting your message out clearly.

I can tell you that last night many were impressed that you jumped into the Deck. The one thing I gear as we walk the streets is why don't politicans use the Observation Deck.

It appears that 3 of the Ward 3 candidates were on the Charter Review - Dean Boland, Jennifer Brinkman and Steve Davis. And with Dan running that makes 4 people that were on the review that are running.

Very little of what we did as a Review actually saw the opportunity for citizens to get to vote on - maybe we will see more of those issues if all of these people are running.

Jennifer in particular worked very hard to rewrite the charter in plain English so that you didn't have to be a lawyer to read and understand what our charter said.

Rumor has it one of Lakewood's favorite sons, and maybe one of the most electable people in the city are getting ready to run in Ward 3.

Having served in the public sector since he was class president at McKinley Elementary School, Horace Mann, and Lakewood High, this class of 1972 Alumni member has also served on many committees and with the School Board all the way until the last election.

It should be nice seeing him back in politics.

Waiting for confirmation from the candidate.

Great.

I have this knack for knowing even before the candidate, like with Steve Davis.

Steve--- Ya gotta lock down Jim fast or else he's off to the next attractive candidate.

Mike Summers would make a valuable addition to city council.

You would make an excellent council member also.......no, really....you really would. In all seriousness....

And if you were running, and if I lived in Ward 3 I would give VERY serious consideration to thinking about deciding to ponder the possibility of throwing my support to your candidacy.....really.
