So Jeff, are you calling? Do you think multiple people should call? I think this would be a nice thing for McDonalds to help with as well and I think they very well might if they were asked.

I believe they will help. McD's is pretty good about community stuff.

I still remember the terrible San Ysidro McDonalds massacre in 1984. The company was extremely responsible in its actions and did a lot for the victims and survivors.

It isn't the McDonald franchisee's fault

no it's not. but they were open a day after the shooting for business, and it seemed like this event never happened on their end.

we have to remember that a life was lost, and that the least we as a community could do is give this family a way to a proper funeral and burial so that they can start the grieving and healing.

How much do funerals go for? $6000? $10,000? that's a day of sales for the McDonalds at Sloane. That could be the profit that they made from the day after, which they should've been closed on anyway.

Shawn, his sister Jen and older brother were all in my House 2 family throughout their years at LHS. Shawn was a terrific, enthusiastic kid who would do anything for anyone. He absolutely loved LHS and spent countless hours assisting Brian Maskow with the Marching Band, even after he graduated. If McDonald's is not responsive, perhaps the Music Boosters or Alumni Foundation could assist.

As a retired teacher, I have learned from experience that nothing is harder to understand than losing someone so young and full of promise.

My prayers go out to Shawn's family. As a fellow LHS Alumni band member, I "beat the drum slowly" for him in my heart.

thanks for letting us know Mr.Murtaugh, and I hope that piece of info gets to the family of Shawn.

and I have to thank all that sent in a request to McDonalds HQ. I hope we can help this family out, and we won't know what the requests will bring forward until we actually make the effort and send ours in.

Frank

It will take care of some of this. The busch Funeral Home has been extremely helpful helping the family through this.

I called early this morning as Gary Rice and myself were looking at various options to help underwrite the funeral.

When I called, Jenni said everything was covered, and gave me the times.
