Meet The Rangers Night, Friday May 11th

Post by Ivor Karabatkovic »

After cheering on the Rangers to victory, we would like to invite all the future baseball stars to have the opportunity to meet Head Coach Jerry Gruss, his coaching staff and the 2007 Lakewood High School Ranger Varsity Baseball Team.

Kids will have the opportunity to see what its like to take the field under the lights. Everyone can step up into the batters box to swing for the fence, field some batted balls, throw a few pitches on the mound and most importantly meet the team!

We hope to see you there!

Friday, May 11th, 2007
Lakewood Rangers vs. Maple Heights Mustangs
4:30 LHS Stadium
Admission is FREE

Great fun for the kids, bring them out for a great game. It's supposed to be in the 70's all week so come enjoy some Ranger baseball! admission is free to every game, and they are playing wednesday, thursday, friday and saturday at LHS stadium.

Hope to see you there, I wouldn't miss the baseball games!

Sounds Great. I'll stop by and do a story.

Coach Gruss and his kids are having a great season....unfortunately baseball gets very little attention at the HS level.

at one point, Lakewood was ranked 8th in the state of Ohio.

they're having a great season. today's game was a nail-biter. They were losing 8-2 in the 5th inning (HS only plays 7, if no extra innings are needed) and then ended up tying the game in the bottom of the 6th. The Rangers beat Garfield Heights by a final score of 9-8 in the bottom of the 8th, as Robert Trivett bunted the ball and ended up at 3rd base on a overthrow. Junior Sam Norris grounded to the shortstop which allowed Robert to score from third.

woohoo!

Wednesday marks the beginning of the Sectionals tournament. They play the winner of Bedford and John Marshall, and Lakewood is the #1 seed in the tournament.

Don't forget about LHS's Cross and Track Teams too. Lkwd has some great Cross runners both men and womens! They make it to States as a team (or individual runners) practically every year. Not every year, but...

They have some great Track athletes as well.

I get tired of reading about ball and stick sports *sigh*. Yawn... :)

Not meaning to take away from the the ball team, it's all good.

Ivor, Your photos of the LHS Varsity Baseball Team are fabulous!
But then again I might be just a tad impartial.....go #3 and Go Rangers!
Thank you so very much for taking them. The guys(and parents too!!) can hardly wait until your next post of new game photos on the Observer!

Wow! This was a great event. Hats off to Coach Gruss and all the players for hosting such a fun time.

Dozens of kids took the field after the game to play catch and run the bases with the ranger players. The players had great repoire with the little ones (and there were some really little ones). I'm sure they will do this again next year...I encourage everyone to bring their kids.

Ivor will have photos....there are some really awesome pics in there.

Guests included Mayor George and outgoing senior basketball player Kayla Kovach, who will be attending IP-Fort Wayne next year on a division I scholarship.
