Undercover Cops
I was standing at a crosswalk the other day. A kid, maybe 17, walks past me, stops, and very slow and succinct, he asks, "Hey, in this town, do they have undercover cops?" With some hesitation, due to my misanthropy, being caught off guard, and actually thinking of the answer, I just said, "I don't know." And in that half-whisper of a stoner's voice, he slowly says, "Yeah. I don't know either." And with that he was on his way.
This got me wondering: Does Lakewood have undercover cops? I would assume every city has undercover cops. The reason I have to stop and question it though, is that I've heard quite a few stories from completely unrelated (though, who knows?) sources that have said Lakewood's Finest are pretty lenient about contraband, specifically "the mary wanna."
Let it also be said, given my curiosity about such a subject, and my age, I do not partake in illegal substances, though I've been known to enjoy the occasional crack rock. Okay, just kidding about that last part.

If they were actually undercover, then the public wouldn't know if they did or did not, would we? (rhetorical question)

Very wierd that you would say that. Last summer I spent a lot of time in those apartments, as I was friends with people who live there. I know exactly what you're talking about.

i hope the city has undercover cops.
if we knew that there are some in the city, then that would ruin the purpose of having them undercover. right?
the undercover cops are good. i've had my fair share of experience with undercover cops down at jacobs field, and sometimes even the workers don't know who is who. every now and then you get the uniformed police officer that says "ah it's too late to do anything about it kid, it's the bottom of the 6th it's time to go home" as I found one of those yesterday. then I turned to the under cover agents and they resolved everything.
"you can't save the world" the cop said to me.
.....but can you do your job?

Nope, Ivor. Just the opposite. If you know that there are undercover cops in the city, then you're always afraid of getting caught. Otherwise you're just looking out for the boys in blue.Ivor Karabatkovic wrote: if we knew that there are some in the city, then that would ruin the purpose of having them undercover. right?

I think given the population and apparent crimes that woudn't logically just stop because the street sign says "Highland Ave" or W.117th, or to assume that the signs "Welcome to Lakewood" stops criminals from entering our city, it would be safe to assume that there are indeed undercover police or agents from either the city, state, federal level, or any combination of them. Who would know? They're undercover!

Those are usually detective cars. Undercover cars can be anything from a rusted out 80 ford pickup to a new Lexus or you name it.
