push poll?

Post by Jeff Dreger »

Has anyone else been called with a push poll? Last week someone called and asked for a registered voter under the guise of a legit poll. The caller started with some generic political questions before turning to Lakewood and calling out George, Fiztgerald and Demro specifically. Very quickly the questions turned into a sort of "if you knew Mayor George was so bad would you be more or less likely to vote for him?" After a few of these I said I had no interest in being push polled and hung up. I don't know who I favor at this point, but it sure seemed like Fitzgerald or Demro or a supporter or someone was trying to make Mayor George sound bad. I have no problem with a campaign just coming out and saying those sort of things, but I have real issues with the deception involved with this - it really rubs me the wrong way. Does anyone know more about this? It may influence my vote.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff:

I didn't commission the poll. I spoke with Councilman Demro this weekend after learning of it, and he informed me that he paid for the poll for use in his upcoming mayoral campaign.
