Awareness is half the battle

Post by Suzie Dean »

I am a member of the For A Breast team that have decided to participate in the Susan G. Koman 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. So far we have 18 people on our team and are still accepting new members. Some of our team members have been doing this now for 5 years.

Last August one of our original team members passed away. He had fought his battle with cancer only to have his life taken from a heart attack. He had always hoped that the 3-day walk would come to Cleveland.

This is why the walk is so very special to us this year.

Awareness is half the battle.

One out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes.

One woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes in the United States.

An estimated 40,460 women will die from breast cancer in 2007.

An estimated 450 men will die from breast cancer in 2007.

As you can see from these statistics, we need to find a cure. There are way to many grandmas, mothers, daughters, wives, aunts, and men that we will lose to this disease this year.

The good news is that there is a 97% probability of survival for women who get early detection and treatment. The generosity of people such as you, is what makes this high rate of success possible.

If you would like to make a donation please do so here,

It will only bring us that much closer to finding a cure.

In order to walk, each team member must raise a minimum of $2,200, so if any of you have any ideas for fund raising just send me a message.

I thank you in advance for any help and support that you are able to give me.
