Who is running for mayor? Who should be elected?

Post by DougHuntingdon »

Last I heard thirdhand on the street, Mayor George is running for re-election against Councilman Ryan Patrick Demro and Councilman Edward Fitzgerald. Is this accurate? Is anyone else running?

Who should be elected? Does anyone care?

Doug

Disclaimer: I am neither officially nor unofficially supporting any of the candidates at this time.

Mayor George is running.

Councilman Fitzgerald is running.

Councilman Demro is thinking about running.

And..apparently no one cares.

Does anyone know the average voter turn-out in Lakewood for an off-year election?

These are the results I pulled off the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections site.

I just took off year results.

2005:
Registered voters - 42,208
Ballots cast - 12,069

2003:
Registered voters - 36,207
Ballots cast - 16,684

Pretty pathetic!

Wow a 28% turnout in the last off-election. That is terrible. I'm just amazed that more people don't seem to care about their government.

As for who should be the next mayor? I have no idea at this point. There is certainly not a clear favorite at this point in my mind.
