Disturbing commercial truck parking trend on Wyandotte Ave.

Parking is bad enough on Wyandotte Ave.-- mostly because of all of the doubles, and the families that have more than 2 cars. Add snow to the equation and you have real parking problems.

Add commercial trucks to the problem now. Residents are bringing trucks from work home and parking them on the street!

This is wrong for so many reasons:

• It’s illegal (or should be in a residential neighborhood.)
  Safety – it’s not safe, and it is difficult to back out of your driveway when these giant trucks are on the street.
  They actually block driveways and come too close to the edges of the driveway aprons
  At bare minimum, they’re an eyesore!

You should check with the Lakewood Police. If I'm not mistaken the ordinance doesn't even allow for pickup trucks or large conversion vans to be parked on the street.

In fact, email Councilman Demro, he seems to be able to get questions answered in a timely fashion.

This has been more than overnight. I am looking at the Coke truck right now - it has been in the same spot on the street for 3 days. The other truck is frequently on the street overnight.

I have called the police several times, I guess parking violations are not a priority on Wyandotte.

The Coke truck was still there when I left for work this morning.

I did try to reach out to Councilman Demro, I also tried emailing. Have not heard back from anyone.

I wanted to make sure I had the right information before I got back to you. I believe this is the code that applies to your situation:

351.17 PARKING COMMERCIAL VEHICLES AND RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT.


(a) No person shall park a school bus, commercial tractor, agricultural tractor, truck, bus, a vehicle originally manufactured and/or designed as a bus, trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer, moving van, ambulance or hearse, or other than recreational equipment as defined in Section 1147.02 of the Zoning Code, for a period in excess of one hour on any street any time within the City, except when loading or unloading such vehicle.



(b) No person shall park recreational equipment as defined in Section 1147.02 of the Zoning Code, on any street or highway within the City for a period in excess of six consecutive hours. (Ord. 7-83. Passed 2-7-83,)

That should do it. Now call the Mayor's Office and ask him to do his job and enforce the law, or to find someone around the building who can.
