Why bring political parties into this? Our local politics are supposed to be non-partisan. But just for the record that republican yesterday shoveled for more than an hour , this republican helped him. He didn't have to be there, he offered to help. We had no idea the news would show up, the school board actually called them. I just wish people would stop making everything a political issue. This isn't about being a republican or a democrat or even a independent. This issue is about enforcing laws that are on the books. This is about getting the job done and honestly the administration has failed miserably at both.Oh well, could be worse ... you could have talked about a Republican ... who would have moved one shovelful of snow, declared "Mission Accomplished" and then moved on, ignoring the massive piles of snow still surrounding.
snow plows? Parking ban?

Another update on walking conditions:
Seen today:
Young students walking in the street on Riverside, Hilliard/Franklin, and Madison due to impassible sidewalks.
This really makes me angry. Again, there are NO excuses for snow blocking a public walkway almost SIX days after a snowfall.
I strongly urge the city to issue citations.

Sorry Dl I didn't poll any one's political affiliations. I was trying to be sarcastic, sorry it didn't go over well. The point is this isn't about political parties and city politics usually aren't although people try to make it an issue. When it comes right down to it, people will vote for who gets the job done. I really think the mayor is doing a horrible job on snow related issues. Tow the cars, fine the businesses, enforce the laws. There are no acceptable excuses as this point, everyone has had ample time to plow, shovel and move cars. The mayor has a job and he isn't doing it.

City workers were removing snow this way at 2:30am-3:15am this morning at Athens and Wyandotte. RIDICULOUS! The beeping of the front-loader and dump truck, combined with the scraping of the pavement, prevented my wife and I from sleeping. Why would the city do this @ 2:30am - almost a week and a half after the snow fall? Unreal.Esther Hazlett wrote:The car is gone, now.
During the early afternoon today, I noticed a city dump truck full of snow stopped inn front of my house. It was followed close behind by a front-end loader, clearing large wedges of snow from the street and dropping it into the truck. Then they moved on. Interesting snow-removal technique.

Political silliness aside (and it is silly ... except for those people who put their political party ahead of the good of their country, or who can only see things in terms of Red vs. Blue instead of Red, White, and Blue) ...
now that the snow is actually and finally melting, has anyone had any water problems in their basement yet?

Some things don't change.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I hate to make my first post of the year a complaint but I have to.
Did the city make some arrangement to sell most of our plows to Lorain county cities? The roads there have been pre salted and look great and I haven't seen more than 2 plows in 4 hours on Clifton.
I understand budget cuts but where are all the plows? Did this storm surprise anyone?
Thankfully the kids don't have to make it to school tomorrow.
Drive safe!

I-90 was horrendous last night, coming back from N. Ridgeville. It looked like it hadn't been plowed since the snow started, if at all.
