Bela Makes It - Madison Avenue’s Indie Music Trifecta

Post by Kenneth Warren »

Madison Avenue’s Indie Music Trifecta: 1) My Mind’s Eye, truly one of the best record stores in the country; 2) the Winchester, another indie music gem; 3) bela dubby is ripping it up with great music and energetic crowds.

Last night there were three fabulous acts, with Alan Madej, at the end putting down a sublime happy-hello kitty fluttering rockabilly that with a tune called “Ladiloliâ€Â￾ sent tattooed vixens into an ecstatic expanse that demanded they dance in the street. Yes, it can and does happen here.

Congratulations to John and Jill Crino on a great show and a great place that belongs in everybody’s hang-plan for fun in the Wood.

Not to mention, they have great coffee too. Great for when I want that Phoenix fix, but only want to walk across the street, not across town.

bela dubby music

Thanks guys. A friend of ours has been booking bands galore at bd. There is pretty much a band or three every friday and saturday night from 9-midnight.
"Our friend" has also been voraciously updating our my space site with all the info. I will remind him to copy the dates to the Ob calender.
Thanks again.

I went to the myspace site. I haven't heard the nig*** word that many times in awhile. The song playing was "VisuaLiez" by MuAmin Co. I thought it might be playing randomly, but it was playing again when I went back to the site. Maybe a reincarnated NWA (not to be confused with National Wrestling Alliance) from Compton will be performing live soon on Madison? They could have an aftershow release party at My Minds Eye, followed by a fashion show at The Mission.

They are a very popular urban poetry and music group doing their thing with where they are from and who they are.
Also, I would love for nwa to play bd anytime (in case they read the Ob deck).
Do you still live in lakewood? Maybe it's time to move to avon.

John

You missed a good night, good crowd.

Though I do have to wonder about your cheap attempt to build Street creds when you had one of your tenants call the police for loud music at 1:00am. Now you can talk about the "man" trying to shut you down. Good night, good poetry, good music, always fun.

John yes I am still in Lakewood. If this board were an exact representation of Lakewood, believe me I would be long gone by now. Fortunately, it's not an exact representation. I have no affinity for Avon...never been there except if you count riding past on I90.

Good.
Glad to have you in Lakewood. Lots of people could care less about where they live or what is going on around them.....not you! :P
