My next guess is that Spin Cycle will be relocating from W117 on the Cleveland side and moving into Lakewood with a BUILT-IN McDonalds like the laundromats in California!

Buckeye MicroBrewery has purchased the property across from the Mars Bar. They are presently located in Bedford and I think we're their expansion. I cut and pasted the following from Realbeer.com:

The Buckeye Brewing Co. is the microbrewery, and The Brewkeeper is a BOP utilizing much of the same equipment (it opened in October 1997). Buckeye Brewing Co. is a small family operated microbrewery serving Northeast Ohio. Established in 1994, the brewery features a state-of-the-art 3 barrel brewhaus. Whatever happened to the TITANIC restaurant that was on that property across from the Mars Bar? Did it ever officially open? I recall seeing people in there, but I don't remember the restaurant ever actually opening. Did it sink?

This is getting to be a pretty fun thread.

But, nope, or a bowling/bar.

Not even Pepe Joe Wong's Restaurant, Rib Shack and House of Cinema Verté, another restaurant my wife and I worked to start at one time back in the 90s.

While I would love to bring back Jimmy's Infamous Hyena Club, it is not in the offing either. If I could by the Phantasy I would do it again heartbeat.

Titanic...sank. For lack of a more appropriate metaphor the restaurant never really opened officially in Lakewood. The building was suffering from some pretty pricy issues and that seemed to drain the reserves. It unlocked the doors with a limited menu and then - it was gone!

I'm encouraged by the hours of the Buckeye Brewing Company. Seems like more of a neighborhood place - looking forward to lunches and Friday evening dinners.

Slyman's would be great here ... or some more Asian places. I'd also put in a huge vote for Skyline chili ... their Skyliner coney dogs are just absolutely killer. Sure, they take a year off your life, but it's a year at at end, when you're already wearin' adult diapers and complaining about the damned loud drug music that those kids are listening to.

While having $tarbucks would be a big plus to many people here who can't drink a cup of coffee unless it costs $7.95, I'd be in favor of ANY coffeeshop opening up on the west end, or in the streetside retail at the Rosewood development.

As for Jim's mystery restaurant chain, how about Tim Horton's? They have pretty good donuts and breakfasts.

The Titanic on West 3rd (?) also sank, I believe before it opened. Supposedly someone built and/or completely renovated that building, sold it at a profit, and then the new owner(s) did nothing. I believe there is a connection between both Titanics and the current owner of the mansion at Lake-Nicholson, which by the way is looking better every day. Looks like they are replacing a lot of windows last time I was by.

There was a coffee shop that went into the old Liquid Planet, now Avenue Pastry. It died from lack of interest even though they had some really good music acts.

If you like the funkiness of Tea House Noodles, thanks it is one of my favorite projects from the past couple years. AGS did it all and also did the upscale version of Teka Noodles and Juice that appeared at West Gate for about a year, as they tried to franchise.

When I first met Richard the creator of THN the idea was as tripped out as the product. He wanted a fast food Asian place that was like he remembered from his days of sitting in a fog in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc. He worked out he recipes from scratch and generally did a great job. The Rica Rica sauce is still one of my favorite sauces of all time and I get my wife to make it every now and then from the menu cards we still have.

I would love a Tea House Noodles, but no, it is not, and I think they have given up franchising and Richard is retired in Athens where he created one more for his kids to work. Dewey Forward(Pete and Dewey's Planet Hollywood/Peabody's Down Under) now owns Chargrin Falls Popcorn and Dewey's Pizza, Richard Korn(The Viking Saloon and D'Poos in the Flats) is sailing the world in a 50' sailboat with his wife.

Vincenza is opening tomorrow I think at Ethel and Detroit.

Also just noticed the old Mexican delivery place by iHop is now a pizza by the slice place.
