Where are all the basketball hoops??

Post by Phil Florian »

I am helping out a family with a young student with disabilities after school. He lives up at the Gold Coast and when we go walking to find a place to shoot hoops, the rims are all taken down. Some school properties don't seem to have them any more, either.

I asked some folks around that area about it and the rumor is that the city took them down because they were "magnets for hoodlums" or some such. That seems inane to me. Any free hoops in town? I had to drive him over to Rocky River to play in a school playground there. Maybe I am missing them.

Last time I was at Madison Park, they still had them there.
There used to be a great set of courts where the construction is going on at Harding.

Try Roosevelt Elementary, on the corner of Lincoln and Athens. Behind the school is the parking lot and basketball. While I havn't been into playing it, I go by there quite a bit, and it appears there's some great shooters that hang out there, as well as just the average guy and gal. It looks nice too.
