After sitting with fellow Observers last night at the monthly get together at Bela Dubby until the wee hours of the morning. I came home got ready for bed and turned on the Police Scanner. Instantly I was in the middle of a chase of two white males, that I believe were in a recently stolen car.
One Lakewood Officer saw them and followed them. They bailed out on Fry Ave. and the chase moved to feet. Jumping over fences the pair took off. The officer called for help and in minutes(3-5 maybe less) they have framed in the area, and locked it down.
Those who know realize this is a nightmare spot to chase anyone. A couple blocks from Cleveland, and stores that are open late. Parking lots, apartments, alleys, train tracks and some huge bushes. Still they had the area pretty much locked down.
If you have never listened to one of these buy or borrow a scanner it is better than TV.
They found a hat of one of the guys, and called for the dogs. Then came back a thing that made me wonder. "The dogs are out of town." Again instantly a call went out to surrounding cities for a dog. Rocky River answered and had their dog here in minutes. By that time the first person was caught and the dog went to work. Minutes later the second was caught.
Again those of us that are scanner freaks know. It is almost always a losing proposition for the criminal once the chase moves to Lakewood. I cannot remember the last time they did not get their man.
Standing ovation from here.

Something that many people are not aware of. When a police officer is in a pursuit, especially on foot, and the bad guys are hiding, the bad guys, many times know exactly where the police officer is, but the police officer doesn't necessarily know where the bad guy is at the same moment.
This gives the advantage to the bad guy. Hypothetical question: What if the bad guy is armedt?
There is just one of many reasons being a police officer isn't for everyone.
My humble opinion, kudos to the guys and gals on LPD, and all the other PDs, who keep our city safe for us.
