The Lakewood Historical Society biennial “Come Home to Lakewoodâ€Â￾ House Tour will be held on Sunday September 10, 2006 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. The tour benefits the Society and features several historically or architecturally significant Lakewood residences and buildings.

Tickets are now on sale. House tour tickets are $15 in advance. Patron Party tickets include admission to the Saturday night party at a brick Tudor with lake views as well as a ticket to Sunday’s tour, and may be purchased by mail with Mastercard, Visa or check to Lakewood Historical Society, 14710 Lake Avenue, Lakewood, OH 44107. Sunday tour tickets may also be purchased at several retail locations:

Clothing & Sports; Local Girl Gallery, Oldest Stone House; Rozi’s Wine House.
In Rocky River: Geiger’s Pendleton Shop, V Regalo/The Desk Set
In Westlake: Borders at the Promenade at Crocker Park

If available, a limited number of tour tickets may be purchased the day of the tour at the Nicholson House, 13335 Detroit, for $20 each.

The year’s tour includes the landmark Masonic Temple, including a glimpse inside its private second-story lodge room; a stately Clifton Park Georgian colonial; a lavish Victorian owned by the same family for 90 years; Lakewood’s newest architectureâ€â€￾the first occupied Rockport Square condo; a cozy historic Birdtown cottage; a Clarence Mack townhouse completely renovated in a dramatic contemporary style; a stunning lakefront mansion complete with billiard room; and a colonial revival with a touch of whimsy.

The restored Nicholson House at 13335 Detroit Avenue will be open for day of tour ticket sales ($20), refreshments and a fabulous display of Templar cars and memorabilia. You’ll see original advertisements, photographs, stock certificates, car parts, an elementary-aged student produced documentary and two cars (weather permitting!) You’ll learn the history of the only car manufactured right here in Lakewood from local expert David Buehler and the students of the 2/3 Grade Discovery Class at Grant Elementary School. Stop by any time during the tour to browse through our selection of Lakewood books and gifts.

An elegant brick Tudor with tranquil lake views is the site for the Patron Party on Saturday, September 9 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Its history includes recognition by the Clay League, an organization founded to promote the building of brick houses. Patron Party tickets are $100 for a Golden Sponsor or $75 for a regular attendee and are available by mail order only. Both include a tour ticket. New this tour will be a unique array of one of a kind silent auction items. This stunning private residence is not on Sunday’s tour.

Great event, Rhonda! From the huge turnout you got, seemed like a smashing success.

After my wife Liz and I figured out how to put on those blue booties, we enjoyed the houses on the tour very much-- we saw all but three houses. We were also very impressed with the organization and coordination of all those volunteers.

Great job!

Lakewood Historical Society House Tour

Thank you! Yes alot of work is put into this event...but it is the biggest fundraiser that the Society has. We only do it every other year because of the time and effort that it takes putting on this event.

I really like the variety of houses we had this year. From Birdtown to Clifton Park and everything in between.

I glad you had a great time and it's a great way to enjoy Lakewood's great variety of homes and we were lucky to have a great day!

Thank you!
