From the PD. A 23 year old was kidnapped at gunpoint from the Promenade and raped around Midnight. The assailant took the car and may still be driving it. It is a silver 4 door Honda Civic, license plate DNG9567. The victim was let go after being driven around for approximately 4 hours. The victim went to a house and residents called 911.
Scary that something like this can happen. I was working just across the street at my office until 9 last night.

One of the things I have noticed at Crocker Park is an increase in police walking around in orange. After the first big drug/weapons bust in the garage there, it would seem they have ratched up the security.
But one of the problems is that it is right off the freeway, and so it becomes and easy place to hit and run.
This is but one reason I wonder what the real cost of some forms of Economic Development costs in real terms and real dollars.
FWIW

The Promenade has been the center of other sorts of crime for a while now. I don't know if Crocker Park will suffer the same thing. I remember that ring of thieves and con artists that hit the space a few years back. Where there is lots of money and people, criminals will follow.
Are the security guards in orange Westlake police or their own private security? One thing that is interesting that no matter how Crocker Park wants to look and "feel" like a city, it is really private property and basically an outdoor mall. The streets and parking is all private, correct? Why is Westlake paying for security on private property? Great Northern doesn't employ N.O. cops, do they? Westgate didn't if I recall. Cops were only called in when a crime had actually happened. Just curious.
