I"ve been looking without results..for a pair of those sandals we used to have, in fact in Lkwd, they were almost mandatory uniform if you lived here....
The ones with tire tread for a sole, the rest of them were all leather.
I'm pretty good at Google, but have NOT found a pair.
Does anyone HAVE an old pair they'd like to sell or give away? I used to do leather work back in the "that was the thing to do" times, (that or tie-dye, stud or make beaded articles) ... and could refurbish even.
*Used to make some bodacious belts, watchbands, that got notice...then the "style" just stopped.
Ok ..anyone have or know where to find sandals BUT..

OK anyone know where to find sandals but...
Mark,
Are you looking for "Birkenstock" sandals? Those things last almost forever!
If those are what you need, your best bet is to check out the various sources on line. I recently googled for those shoes and found many sources.
Hope this is helpful.

Birkies are not what Mark seeks.
They don't have a sole made from recycled tires - although some models are close.
Unfortunately, those sandals lost popularity around the mid-seventies.
There are a lot of great sandals out there that are equally comfortable, so I hope Mark is expanding his horizons and looking into some new styles.
I like the concept of Birkies better than the fit, and while my DH did make me temporarily swear off clogs, I have found some cork-soled clogs that make my feet very happy. Unfortunately, they're German (and expensive!). It's hard to find them on sale, so i have to search online for them.
But DH found a pair of clogs that he likes and I found some new plastic or rubber shoes that finally replaced the plastic shoes I wore forever.
I just have to remember that not everyone likes the blue plastic gardening clogs that I like.
