Great Observer Meeting

Post by dl meckes »

Thanks to Jim O'Bryan for hosting and Jill Timieski for organizing the wonderful Observer meeting last night.

Beautiful night, beautiful people!

Several Observers voiced concern that it would be a boring business meeting. I'm sure business was discussed, but these get-togethers primarily function as a way for Observers to meet each other and talk.

This was one of the best attended meetings and the most fun. I had not had the opportunity to meet several Observer contributors, so last evening was a real pleasure for me.

DL/Stan/All

That was a grand night that lasted from 6:30 - 12:30 as we wandered out on the streets and headed home. It was a beautiful night with people coming and going. New Observers, new writers, and some all stars all showed up for a good night of eating and drinking.

Special thanks to Mickey at Around the Corner, for the support and the good evening. And a tip of the hat to Jill who organized a very nice affair. Ken thought it was the best one ever, and it was certainly a splendid night.

It was my pleasure to have the privilege of picking up the check.

Can't wait till the next one.

that was definitely a fun night. I thought it was going to be an extension of the forum and everyone would be arguing about politics.

I'll be at the next one!

Thanks for the good words about the last meeting. I'm glad everyone enjoyed it so much. Getting outside on the patio in weather like this was a real treat.

Any suggestions for other gatherings? Other things people would like to do? Places to go? I am open to suggestions but I can't promise anything since there are many diverse people to please. I have noted Mark's need for an occasional non-Wednesday night and he probably isn't the only one, so that would seem like a reasonable request.

How about Sweetwater Landing? Something a little off the beaten path.

Jeff,

I've never been to Sweetwater Landing, although I've had picnics in that area many times. It's a nice location. I must ask if it meets the minimum requirement for an Observer meeting...do they serve beer? I was wondering since it is the park.

The 4th of July parade should be the next meeting. We were hoping to get a picnic together and have a number of cool activities (and cars).

A shuttle service can be provided if you need to march with more than one group!

Please let us know if you can attend!

We'd like to see hundreds of Observers celebrating our first year!
