There is a small group of folks who have expressed an interest in advocating bicycle transportation here in Lakewood. Racks, signage, paths/routes, education, etc.
The idea is to suggest and perhaps help implement ways to make Lakewood more accommodating to cyclists, and to promote Lakewood as a “bike friendly†city. Lakewood has a lot of cycling potential, and with the ongoing work on streets, sidewalks, etc. perhaps the needs of cyclists can also be considered. Plus there appears to be some interest in such an effort at least at some levels within City government and by other Observers.
If you are interested in joining us, please PM me. I'll help organize an initial meeting and see where that takes us. You don't need to be an avid cyclist to contribute, just interested in promoting cycling as another Lakewood amenity.
So PM me and I'll help get organized. In the meantime, Ride On!!!
Interested in Bicycle Advocacy here in Lakewood???

Thanks to the handful of people who have responded. So far we have a nice mix. A couple avid cyclists, a couple city folk, and a couple of former “Do Bees†with some extra time on their hands (you know who you are).
I'm really busy thru the 18th but I'll gather scheduling preferences and get the gang together at Phoenix shortly thereafter. A couple more people would be nice though we are certainly good to go right now. Thanks all......

I'm more a jogger than a cyclist (biker?) but either way I support this proposal and agree that enhancing Lakewood's walkability and non-automobile modes of transportation are good for our town.
Have you seen the thread on Clifton Avenue resurfacing? I've suggested that one lane be reserved for cycling/jogging, and we might add rollerblading.
