Baker's Junk Yard
Does anyone know if Baker Towing is zoned to keep a junk yard? There are cars and trucks that have been there for at least 6 years. How many cars are they allowed to keep, and for how long? They are creating a brown field. Any thoughts on this?

No thought on that but I have thought about the parking problem around Baker's when they line both sides of the street with trucks. I have thought about the value of $400,000 condos that can hear beep, beep, beep, beep all night long as they back up.
Interesting problem.
Would be great to move them to Berea Road.
But that is just a thought.

Baker junk yard
Baker Motors is considered in the Lakewood Zoning Code as a Non-Conforming use in the C 3 zoning district in which it is located. The business may stay as long at it is in existence and operating. The Division of Housing and Building continually monitors all non-conforming uses so they do not enhance or abuse or increase the non-conformity. If the use is abandon for more than six months, they lose the non-conformity status under the zoning code and must seek approval from the Planning Commission to reopen as a vehicle storage lot, ether under a use variance or a conditional use approval. The city has no indication that the car storage area is being used as a "Junk Yard".
