Last Night's Lakewood Project/Beatles Tribute Concert
Were any other Observers at the concert last night? It was absolutely delightful. The first half, Lakewood Project performed and after intermission, the band "Hard Day's Night" did an amazing set of early Beatles songs. The best part of the night in my opinion, was when The Lakewood Project joined Hard Days Night onstage and did some Beatles "strings" songs: "Eleanor Rigby", "Sargeant Pepper" and the suite of songs at the end of "Abbey Road" : "Golden Slumbers"/"Carry That Weight"/"The End".
It was amazing to see kids and adults in the "mosh pit" grooving to the music - singing all the words! Here we are, forty years later, and the music still moves us all. A very entertaining and impressive collaboration!!
Congratulations to the Lakewood Project, Ms. Hankins, Civic Crew, LHS staff and Music Boosters and any others involved in putting this event together!

Lakewood Project Concert
The Beatles Tribute segment of Friday's concert was truly one of the Lakewood Project's finest moments. Their version of "Let it Be" and the collaborative performance with "A Hard Days Night" on "Eleanor Rigby" and 'The End" were stunning. I had brought several friends and relatives from around town and all left astounded by the talent of these high school kids.
Equally amazing is that the kids arrange each composition themselves.
Good Job Lakewood Project!
Answering Bill's question, I have seen CD's of their performances and I believe that each performance is recorded and videotaped. They may get into song royalties issues if they sell them on a broader scale. Especially those expensive Beatle songs owned by you know who.

The Lakewood Project is working on a new CD but no date yet as to when it will be ready. I know they would love to have it ready for the May concert but as Scott mentioned there are permission and royalty issues as well as having enough time to record and edit. Those were great photos. Made me envious! Our new baby is keeping us home still and I couldn't get out to see this show. I saw the LP for the first time at the Raise the Roof event (still one of the coolest events since I have lived in Lakewood this century) and fell in love with that sound. Lucked out and saw them again at the fireworks but I haven't been able to see them since.
Are any of these shows videotaped? Audio? While it won't replace being there to hear it live it is a great sound and would be cool to listen to in the car. Here is hoping that either of my daughters get the itch to try out stringed instruments!!
