Crain's announced that Lowe's is going to put up a store in the new Westgate.

That's great news. Glad that Westgate is coming back and I like Lowe's.

It's odd that it's so hard sometimes to get things at Lowe's and HD that are right for older homes. I try to buy things at local hardware stores, because they tend to be able to stock more locally appropriate items. Sometimes I go to Lowe's or HD and ask for something that makes perfect sense for a large number of homes in our area, and they don't stock it. Still I'm sure they meet the needs of the biggest part of the market.

Are they planning on re-building the rest of the mall, around the Lowe's?

Also, would this mean that the movie theater at Westgate will be re-opened. I find it a little annoying to have to drive all the way out to Crocker Park to see a good movie.

From what I read awhile back in the PD there are no plans for a movie theater. I also remember reading that they were building a new larger Target on that sight. I guess the one down the road isn't big enough.

I thought the Westgate multi-plex was still standing and was supposed to continue its life, but we don't get to the movies very often.

We have also heard about a bigger Target in a new spot.

The Lowe's item was a press release in Crain's (therefore, no other stores were mentioned).

If the Westgate theater is still showing movies, then they need to put what they have showing in the news paper, because from my understanding they are not, but i hope they keep, or even renovate it

The Westgate theater is still standing, but closed. The AAA office building, to the south, is also still standing but empty. I'm guessing they will pull those down too.

Has anyone seen a site plan?

Wow - when did that happen? My daughter was just there over the winter break and saw a show....

The Westgate AMC closed on Jan. 16th with no plans to re-open in the future. Tuesday night is still $4 plus free popcorn at the Westwood AMC but there wasn't anything there I wanted to see this week. I miss the choices available when both theater's were open. While I like the seating and movie selection at the Crocker Park theater, I don't like the higher price per ticket.

Funny that they created enclosed malls to replace the old "strip malls." Now we call them "plazas" and throw out the enclosed. What is old is new again.
