Our street has been under construction since early September. Fabrizi is the contractor.

While there have been many inconveniences for my active family (and a parking ticket to boot), I would have to say that the contractor is doing their best given their task. They have been working long hours and have been pro-active in their communication to homeowners.

We won't miss moving our cars to a nearby street in our pj's during the pre-dawn hours. My neighbors and I are overjoyed at the prospect of better street conditions going forward.

Our street was last resurfaced in 1956. Yes, the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn!

p.s. I think road construction may have made our very friendly neighborhood even more friendly. People are really pitching in together to help (shopping and lugging groceries for the elderly, letting neighbors cut through yards, etc.) during this period of inconvenience.

Our street runs east and west and is not considered a cut through, except for a few adjacent streets. We too are concerned about cars speeding with the improvement of the street surface. We looked into speed bumps but apparently they are prohibited on public property and would impede the snowplow driver, etc.

I guess we are left to self-policing our street for speeders. If that is the case, I think the "R" rated language we put out could trump anything your street workers might be capable of producing.

You both have my sympathy. They did our street a few years ago and started right before Thanksgiving. Dragging in groceries and Christmas presents from a street away was no picnic. But it is amazing how quickly you forget when the street is nice and no more potholes.

But anytime you think about complaining, think of the poor people on Sloane. I swear, I think they worked on that street for 3 years.

Have you tried contacting your councilman? While he may not be able to do anything regarding the construction he can definitely address the way you're being treated by a company employed by the city.
