Lakewood Soccer Update

Post by Mike Deneen »

As some of you may know, the LHS boys soccer team (LEL champs) is ranked number 10 in the state by the AP. They have a realistic chance of playing for the state championship this fall in Columbus.

Their first tournament game is this Saturday, October 22 at Lakewood Stadium at 7pm. Tickets are $6, and there should be enough parking that you don't need to use one of the neighbors' lawns. :)

If you've never been to a soccer game before, this is a great chance to check out the Rangers. The tournament is single elimination, so the boys could use your support!

In other soccer news, the girls' soccer ended yesterday with a tournament loss to Parma. Details will be included in the next print edition of the LO.

And...I understand from a reliable source that Aly Endress, senior Tri-Captain of the girls soccer team has been named to the all LEL team.

Good for that Aly Endress.

Now, while you're deservedly promoting an exceptional soccer player, do you mind explaining what "Tri-Captain" means, how many players are picked for the "all LEL team" and whether this is simply an honorary team?

TriCaptains.....There's three of them (Like Co-Captains, with one more).

All LEL is honorary...they will never actually field a team....made up from LEL member teams. Three were named from Lakewood...

I'll attempt to get more details, however, that would require obtaining information from my daughter. With teenagers (especially seniors) there is the unspoken three question rule. There are certain limits and it may take some time.....

:D I'm satisfied that there's enough information to give those kids a great big "well done" and good luck in tournaments!!!!!!!!!

(Stach--- I'll rip my shirt off if they win a championship :? )

Thanks for the posting.

I would echo Mike that attending THIS LHS sporting event would be worthwhile.

The boy's soccer team is exciting to watch as is the game itself. You really don't need to know much about the sport.

These guys are for real. They lost a very close game to Ignatius who at the time was ranked #1 in the Nation.

GO LAKEWOOD SOCCER!

The team won 5-0 on Saturday night (details in the next LO)....next game is Tuesday at 7pm at Lakewood Stadium.

I hear that the LHS volleyball team also won Saturday, and will be playing Tuesday night in Strongsville.
