Observers,
Just a note of thanks to Jim O'Bryan and Ken Warren and the Observer staff for their decision to shed light on the alleged activities of an apparently very troubled man.
Their decision to act was the right decision to make.
Thanks,
Tom George, Summit Avenue resident

Thanks for the kind words, but Ken and I were just the mouth piece for the media. The truth is without the help of Steve Calhoun, Dan Slife, and DL Meckes, Brian Corrigan, Ed Favre and Leslie Wilkens it would have fallen through the cracks.
I would prefer to think it was the city using the Observer as a tool, that kept our children safe from Rocky River's pedophiles.
But thanks again for the kind words.

Congratulations and thanks for helping to keep our children a little safer.

Thanks but, this is insane. A person tries to break the only rule this group has and he is not given a free pass, everyone else has put their real anme and more on the line to be a part of this group. So he is thrown out.
In an effort to get back on he tells a tale of molesting boys, schools design to teach boys it is ok to get molested, and that a murder might have happened. The police are called.
Dare I say there is not one person on this board or in this city that would not have done the same?
Would the director of the library, the single safest institution in the city turn his back and walk away? No. His life is dedicated to education, and protection. Slife, DL, Steve and I there was no discussion, it was obvious turn the creep in. DL probably did the most work, uncovering over 600 pages of troubling stuff on Petty that was in plain view. That was above and beyond the call of duty. Dan Slife who went back and met with him after we thought the worst including murder! The kid has nerves of steel.
But our best moments is every other Tuesday when regulars and newbies trust us to get the news out, as Lakewoodites see it. Best moment every name from3 - 309. Lakewoodites tired of the old ways and now energized to take part in the discussion.
But our brightest moments are to come. We are working on some very amazing stuff that will pale everything we have done this far. As I tell people, the paper, the Lakewood Observer is just a stepping stone, a small pebble in the foundation of a something different.
The kind words are appreciated, but we have just begun, and Petty/Phil was nothing more than a test on Lakewood Observer and Open Source, and we ALL passed with flying colors.
In fact we kicked ass.
Thanks from all to all.
