Lakewood Observer Readers:
Please be advised that in this morning's Plain Dealer errors were made regarding upcoming city charter ballot issues.
First, they forgot the issue that will appear on the October ballot which refers to a change in the way some dedicated propery tax millage is used.
Most importantly, there IS NO issue reagarding the tax credit.
There are three issues in November dealing with 1) Civil Service positions, 2) procedures for salary adjustments, and 3) changes in establishing water rates and charges.
Expect further clarification on this matter later on.

Lakewood Ballot Issues
I am generally aware of the background of Issues 2 & 3, but what gives with Issue 1? Remove city engineer and Mayor's secretary from civil service? I suppose I can see the logic behind the secretary position, but why would we want a politically-appointed city engineer? What am I missing here?
