Is that cool or what. I have kind of an interesting observation: It would appear that the Observer is not only covering the news, but also making it. Isn't it interesting that we get positive feedback from DC, inquiries from throughout the US, but for whatever reason, we're not newsworthy vis-a-vis the greater Cleveland media? FWIW

This is a great write up and great news for the Lakewood Observer. Congrats to Jim, Ken, and everyone for some very well-deserved recognition!

GrowOhio.org is an exciting online project by 13th District Congressman Sherrod Brown which invites Ohioans from across the state to share their ideas on revitalizing Ohio, our economy, and our politics. (God knows we need it!) It is a window to allow in gusts of fresh air and fresh ideas from people who are not political insiders, but regular Ohioans. The guiding philosophy is that regular citizens have untapped genius which can provide many of the solutions our state (and country) is looking for.

In that sense, GrowOhio.org is an "open source idea-incubator"--very much a parallel to the Lakewood Observer but on a statewide, rather than citywide, scale and in the political, rather than civic, sphere.

And given all that, GrowOhio.org couldn't have picked a better project or two better leaders than the Observer and Jim and Ken!

I thought the story very eloquently summed up the idea which inspires the Observer in its conclusion:

Through the expansive and innovative eyes of the Lakewood Observer, the stories and images of a city are being returned and renewed for its residents, one issue at a time.
