OK, so this church leader is over the top but doesn't the beheading of people not even involved in the burning just prove this pastor's point that the radical portion of this religion has to be focused on and stopped?

Neither proves any point other than intolerance is intolerable.

Because as we know, there are certainly no cases of Christian violence.

Please enlighten me on current violence that is growing world wide in the name of Jesus and is being ignored to the point where there are riots when open discussion is attempted.

It is sad that you read a report on people getting beheaded and your only response is to attack Christians. It must be hard living with such anger and hate. ;)

Just simply pointing out your blatant and misinformed hypocrisy. ;)

What happened is tragic, but your consistent attempt at smearing another faith and consistently anti-muslim posts are just sad. Just be thankful that you are not being held liable for all the wrong Christians have done throughout history.

The only anger and hate I see here is Ryan Salo and his continual posting of "information" designed to incite and inflame hatred for an entire group of people.

It must be hard living with all that hate, fear, and loathing.

Thoughout history is key bryan. You and I can't change the past but we can stop massive killings now. In regards to my direct question, are there killings going on right now in the name of Jesus? It is insane to think that because there were idiots in christianity in the past that no christian can stand up against radical religious violence.

Do you bleeding heart liberals not see these radicals as a global threat? Are their actions really justified because of mistakes made by radicals in other religions in the past?

Yes, do a google search for all the mass LGBT killings going on in Uganda and some other African countries as a start all being fueled by the Evangelical Christians in those countries.

How about the abortion doctors that have been blown up or killed in our very own country?

How about McVeigh blowing up the Federal building in Oklahoma City because of his Christian faith?

So how about you drop the anti-muslim rhetoric and just accept the fact there are crazy, murderous people who do things in the name of the faith everywhere? Radicals are a threat, but I see radicals of every faith as the threat, you apparently choose to only look at one type because it's not Christian (and probably because its followers are not primarily white).

riots generally have no political leaders or military leaders.
it would be like ordering the army to bomb the chicago bulls when there are riots in chicago for the bulls winning the championship.

Ryan, no one is justifying these attacks! They are intolerable. The "preacher" who wanted to burn the qu'ran was doing it as publicity stunt and possibly to generate money for his church. Burning people's holy books is not a way to have a conversation about differnces and similarities.

If I remember his philosophy correctly, Jesus was the original bleeding heart liberal so I don't think that's the insult you would like it to be.

Shhhhhhhhh....don't bring that up. Doesn't jive well with the militant Christian Evangelical right-wing tea party propaganda.

Bryan,
Thank you for providing a couple examples. Those are examples of hate and should be stopped, but no where near the scale of deaths going on right now by radical islamists. Btw, gays are killed in large numbers by radical islamists. On a side note, are you capable of having a conversation without resorting to personally calling people haters or racist? It really makes it difficult to take you seriously.

In regards to Jesus being a bleeding heart liberal, I guess it depends on your definition. It is clear in the Bible that Jesus calls his followers to give to the poor and provide for the needy. He also says to give to those that want to take from you. The talents parable is interesting too, whether you see it as money or literally our talents, Jesus rewards those that do something and punishes those that do nothing. If we look at the type of government todays liberals want it does the opposite. It takes from those that succeed to give to those that, a lot of time, do nothing. If Jesus is God, which I beleieve he is, then you simply cannot forget all of the teachings regarding armies and governments that go to war. I do not belive Jesus would want us to sit by and do nothing when evil is harming people. Even Obama sees this when he decided, without permission from congress, to attack forces in Libya, and he is a pretty big liberal. :)

Ryan, who does the government give to that do nothing as you say? I think you will find that the bulk of assistance programs provide for children, disabled and elderly. It is very difficult for able bodied and even marginally able-bodied people to get assistance. Please define the programs you are talking about.

I also think you might find with careful research into the problems of the middle east, the conflicts have less to do with religion and more to do with economics and opportunities. Religion is often used as a convenient rallying cry for a situation that needs to change.

Now personally, I find terrorism in any form abhorant and I find the methods of mlk and ghandi to be more effective and inspiring in the long run. I am also not deluded into thinking the current waves of terrorist methods have much to do with relgion other than a method for getting people to act in a certain way.

It's just plain wrong to condemn a whole religion on the acts of a few.
