On February 22, 2011 at 11:00PM, the Lakewood Police Department arrested Kevin Mahovlic, 12/2/1991, of 17920 Detroit, Lakewood, Ohio. He was arrested at 17920 Detroit Ave. on a warrant issued by Judge Patrick Carroll of the Lakewood Municipal Court for Receiving Stolen Property. Information had been developed that Mahovlic was in possession of some items stolen from the Att. Aggravated Murder at 1382 Webb, Lakewood, Ohio that occurred on 2/20/2011. Items stolen from that crime have been recovered and have been linked to Mahovlic. Further investigation is continuing into the crime with forensic evidence being submitted to Ohio B.C.I. & I. for analysis. At this time he is being held under the Receiving Stolen Property charge under a hold in custody. Lakewood Police Department Detectives will be conferring with the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor about additional charges and expect Mahovlic to be charged with additional crimes committed in this incident.

According the Chief Timothy J. Malley “There was excellent work performed by all of those officers of the Lakewood Police Department that were involved in this investigation. For such a serious crime being committed on Sunday February 20th to having a suspect in custody three days later speaks volumes to the commitment of the officers of the Lakewood Police Department to their mission. We look forward to a full recovery of the victim in this case and the successful prosecution of his assailant.”
