The Observation Deck

On February 20, 2011 at 0140hrs the Lakewood Police Department responded to the call of male in the Rush Inn, 17800 Detroit Ave, that had been stabbed. Upon arrival officers located a 27yr old resident of Webb Ave that had been stabbed in the arm. Investigation has determined that a burglary had occurred at 1380/1382 Webb Ave. A suspect confronted the resident in the upstairs and a struggle ensued, resulting in a cut to the residents arm. The suspect fled and is still at large. The victim was taken to Fairview Hospital where he had surgery and was admitted. Suspect is described as a White Male, 25yrs old, 5’10” 150lbs. Evidence was collected and will be presented to Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for further investigation.

That's the second time in the last month that I've read that a person injured in Lakewood was taken to Fairview Hospital for treatment. Does Lakewood Hospital still have an emergency room? Is it still a hospital?

To be honest, the victim was probably damn near a as quick to each place. I went through
this when my mother-in-law died. Fairview/Lakewood in a car. I was doing 90 on Riverside,
I timed it out both ways difference was less than 30 seconds.

HOWEVER - YOU WERE RIGHT!

They were discussing taking him to Metro. Now maybe that is because of the type of injury
or that Metro is gaining a footprint in Lakewood. BUT the fact is Lakewood was never
mentioned. And as it would seem this is happening more often than the last mayor let on
maybe it is time for the discussion again.

HOWEVER - This happened to a friend of ours son. A person that posts on the Deck and
is pretty visible in this city. They have asked for the focus to be put on catching the
criminal instead of how there son is doing. I spent Sunday morning at the Hospital, and
even with the fact he almost bled out, he is in great shape and great spirits, and Fairview
did a tremendous job. He was cut through the bicep down to the bone slicing an artery
and cutting his muscles. Everything is back.

He mentioned he got a couple punches in to the face and eyes, and a couple good hits to
head with a baseball bat. So if you see someone beat up, call the police.

Let me assure you, this was screwed up and we came pretty close to homicide.

Lakewood police do an incredible job with what they have and the task that has been
given to them. The sad thing is, and we have often spoken of it, our friends, neighbors
and businesses actual turn a blind eye to some things that could help, and turn a blind
eye to those causing the problems because they are friends.

Lakewood Police has not just caught the criminal, but they have a confession!

Today the Lakewood Police apprehended the perpetrator that stabbed the 25 year old on Webb Rd.

The man lived in the Mark Twain apartments, and is in jail and has confessed to the breaking
and entering.
