the Phantasy Theater Saturday, Feb. 6, 2011. And a grand time was had by all.

8 bands of students comprised of students from Vance Music on Madison Ave. hit
the stage at Lakewood's legendary Phatasy Nightclub. On the same stage as many other
famous rockers Like Devo, Nine Inch Nails, Mission To Burma got their start on.

Playing a series of rock classics that their parents could identify with from the Beatles,
Stones, Ramones, Led Zepplin and more, rocked the place and the walls down! As they
showed the talents they had picked up with the help of Chris and Tim.

Chris Vance at the door asking if I paid. Of course, its for the kids.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Chris and Tim for years, and also know many of
the students that go to Vance Music, and they do an amazing job. The three mothers
that had called to tip me off to the show, all praised how Chris and Tim had taken their
children, game them focus, and great hobby/future, and channeled their talents into
very positive activities.
For me, it was great. Having worked with the Phantasy to bring so many great shows to
it Niteclub stage and the to the Phantasy Theater(aka Jimmy's Hyena Club) back in the
80s. it was nice to see so much of history there unchanged, and ready for a whole new
life in the 21st Century. Given a little help, the place is in great shape, and could become
the real heart of Lakewood's Entertainment District.

Parents hit the bar while the kids had cokes and hotdogs. It was funny to talk with
the parents that had come to this club for years.

Often overlooked, possibly because of recent history. The Phanatsy's 3 stages were
every bit as cool as The Beachland Ballroom, and Agora. Bands during their heydays
like Devo, Talking Heads, The Pgoues, Simple Minds, Psychedelic Furs, calling and asking
if they could get a date there. Nice to hear their are plans to bring that luster back again.
A tip of the hat to Chris, Tim, the mothers that invited the LO, and to everyone at the
Phantasy for caring, giving the stage, and planning for a great future.
More photos coming.
ROCK ON!
