Surprise, surprise! Gen Y home buyers want walkable communities, not much yard to mow, and an urban setting:

"One-third are willing to pay for the ability to walk," Ms. Duggal said. "They don't want to be in a cookie-cutter type of development. ...The suburbs will need to evolve to be attractive to Gen Y."

Grace

Be careful, many in this town would present this as "...want to be in a cookie-cutter type of development..."

Call me crazy, but to me it looks more like Crocker Park than Lakewood.

I'm not sure I buy into the concept of building these types of communities from scratch. Lakewood's long term viability as a livable community has been solidly proven. While Crocker Park is undeniably successful as a shopping destination, the jury's still out on whether or not it will be a place where people will want to actually live.
