In an election where restoring public trust and the promise of a new dawn are more urgent than ever, simply being a Democrat might be the costliest bit of identity politics in Cuyahoga County this year.

Fitzgeralds comments:
FitzGerald says he's different. "I'm lucky, in a way. My bio is so much the polar opposite of the guys who got in trouble. I don't talk like those guys. I don't sound like those guys or act like those guys. And the more they actually look into it, there just isn't anything there."
I admire Ed Fitzgerald.
He made the tough decisions at City Hall that previous administrations couldn't or wouldn't make.
He sees through the fog and can focus on the important aspects of a problem.
He is and honest and thoughtful man.
As a man and human being and politician he has probably rubbed some people the wrong way but that just means he is a normal human being. There are far to few normal human beings in politics.

Bill
Good post.
I could not actually quote you because I would get the flood of emails "why am I
kissing the mayor's ass?" as normally follows a post like this. Yes there will be
a couple mentions of "How could you agree with Bill Call?" as well.
Besides some of the things you have mentioned I do not see why any Lakewoodite would
not want a Lakewoodite at the helm, at least until someone knows where the damn boat
is headed. We that would be us Lakewoodites have witness far too many professionals
presenting their detailed studies for "Lakeview" to not want anything else.
Thank god the recent press has at least placed Lakewood on the table as something
unique and damn good as they get ready to play Sim County. "Let's buy salt for everyone
(oh we already do that)."
Ed and Nickie, living in Lakewood, during this time of transformation is a good thing.
FWIW

Jim,
Lakewoodite or no Lakewoodite, I'm voting for the best person for the job.
Ass-Kissing is your choice:
