How will the recent settlement with the EPA affect Lakewood?

Is anyone in the administration working on this? It seems like one of the basics.

$500/month didn't seem to be mentioned in the PD article, and is way higher than the figure they did quote. I'm assuming you're just over-exaggerating for effect or did I miss something?

I think the actual figure mentioned was over $200 QUARTERLY. Having lived in other regions of the country and paid water and sewer there, I am still shocked by how cheap it is here. And now I know why. They have not been doing what they should have been to take care of this. Now it's coming back on this region, and of course, cost is going to rise.

The same with storm water management. All of these suburbs and development... where's the water going to go? In your basement? That also needs to be managed.

This region is very late to the party. We can't ignore these problems anymore. The infrastructure is old, crumbling and outdated. And we need to protect the things that this area has going for it.. which is rapidly declining these days.. and that is clean water.

ETA: Found it.

Regional sewer officials say they are finally close to reaching a legal settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice -- possibly by November -- that would result in more than doubling the average quarterly sewer bill (now about $95) in Northeast Ohio to about $240 by 2016.

Bill-

We've had our own separate negotiations with the E.P.A. This agreement doesn't affect our rates. We have adjusted our own rates over time, in large part to comply with federal environmental regulations.
