Thanks for posting the results, Jim.
According to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, about $4 million was spent on this countywide primary and somewhere around 170,000 voted. This comes in at $23.53 a vote. Ouch.
I'm not sure where the apathy stems from this time around. Voter fatigue? Cuy. Co. reform/scandal fatigue?

The results aren't surprising. The party aparachiks win the County Council Democratic council races.
Republicans are unlikely to win more than three council seats. The result is that the existing corrupt power structure has a good chance to retain control of County government
The ONLY hope for true reform lies with the County Executive. Dolan, the Republican candidate, will certainly challenge the cabal that runs the region. Will Mayor Fitzgerald?
The temptation will be to announce a few minor changes and settle into a comfortable sinecure. I think both men realize that would end their hopes of higher office.
I mean, what would the campaign slogan be? "Elect me as Governor. During my four years as County Executive very few County employees were indicted!".

Bill, David--- This change in government is reform to a more modern kind or representative government that should have been in existence about 80 years ago for Ohio's urban counties. That it took all of these allegations of corruption to finally cause voters to accept an updated change is just a fortunate coincidence.
But, do not equate a change in government with a good riddance to corruption.
It is just a change, and no fire walls, or safeguards to prevent future corruption.
Now, down to a nitty gritty test----- Say Dale Miller, and Dan Brady succeed in getting elected along with Ed FitzGerald.
The traffic signals along Clifton, Lakewood through Cleveland onto the Shoreway are out of sync. Who're you gonna call to fix this regional/county wide problem?
Who is going to take the lead in getting RTA to serve the public?
Those are just two questions to start the debate about what is this new county government going to do--look like--be?

You mean Dolan who lives in Geauga County...oh no wait, he moved right before the election so he could run, my bad.
Does he know where Lakewood is on a map? Has he been here?
Just not so sure I would hold him up as a pinnacle of what elected office should be. Clearly he has other motives beyond his desire to "help Cuyahoga county" given his eagerness to move so readily. Why didn't he live here before?

You don't have to be Roldo to figure this one out. Fredo----uh, I mean Matt---is running to help daddy get more tax dollars spent on the baseball stadium. If they install some new bars in the stadium, people might forget that we traded away back-to-back Cy Young winners.
Dolan's nomination is a clear signal that the GOP has no intention of ever being relevant in Cuyahoga County. I won't be surprised if Ken Lanci finishes second.
