With close to 500,000 square feet of space.

I'm sure they are already working with Lakewood Hospital to ensure the services offered at the new facility will not compete with what is offered at the Hospital.

A dinner companion who is a friend of one on the principals.

The deal involves several properties. Some properties have tenants with leases that will soon expire. Others will expire in three years or so.

No, I won't tell you who and no, I wont' tell you which properties.

Other things I've observed begin to make a little more sense.

Non needed. With their not for profit status if I said they are building a new 50 million dollar parking structure chances are high that I would be right in a couple of years.

True.

One reason this region has such high medical costs is the billions of dollars in new construction for Clinic facilities. All those new buildings are paid for with higher prices.

The Clinic had orignally planned to build on the site of Paninis in Westlake. They backed out becaause the site was too small. They also found their idea for an innerchange for East bound traffic was much too expensive.

The new site is close too Clague but closer still too Lakewood. Which begs the question:

What type of services will be provided?
Will they compete with services already offered by Lakewood Hospital?
Will referals generated by that facility go to Lakewood or Fairview?

What I'm seeing at Lakewood Hospital reminds me of what I was seeing at Tops Market three years before they moved out of town.

I had another person tell me that when they needed emergency room care for one of their children they drove to Fairview. What does that tell you? Is the Lakewood Hospital Board of Directors paying attention or just bidding their time? Should they be thinking about these things? Should Council be thinknig about these things?

Every year Lakewood Hospital cuts more employees and more services. What is the end game?

Don't ask or you will be banished to the Marches
