The religion isn't doing this; nut jobs are doing this.
People do all kinds of crazy awful in the name of religion.
It is hideous that this is happening, but as we are regularly reminded, women have no real value and are not on equal footing with men.

it is a cultural thing. you could convert them all to Christians tomorrow, and there would be a few who would murder girls rumored to be unchaste, raped, or infideliti-ous. Just like in most of Christian European history. Maybe they'd switch to drowning them, or tying them to posts and burning them. and they would pray to Jesus or God while doing it.
if my memory serves me correctly, until recently there were still laws on the books in Italy that heavily favored rapists: if the victim hadn't been a virgin, it wasn't rape. and if the rapists agreed to marry the victim, it wasn't rape.

Wow, just wow.
The ignorance is overwhelming.
At least it's good to know your equally ignorant and not just against gay people.

At this point your just a troll And if you really do believe what you are saying your just a bad person as well. Do not feed the troll.
Re: VERY Graphic - Stoning of muslim girl who wouldn't marry.
Stoning is a legal punishment in only a handful of Muslim countries — in addition to Iran, they include Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Pakistan and Nigeria, but it is very rarely put to use.
Stoning is not prescribed by the Koran. The punishment is rooted in Islamic legal traditions, known as hadiths, that designate it as the penalty for adultery. While the penalty may seem savage to Western eyes, scholars say it is consistent with the values of Arabian society at the time of Muhammad, Islam’s founding prophet.
My point was simply that this needs to stop. If you disagree keep making personal attacks I guess...

That was you're point? Then why did you preface your post the way you did? Because it wasn't your point.
I do have to admit though I love all the threads where you make specious, hateful, disgusting attacks on entire groups of people, and then when you get called out on it, you retreat to the "boo hoo why are you personally attacking me" defense. Seriously, I have yet to see one post from you where you can legitimately claim the moral high ground.

Brian,
No my point was that it should continue? It is wrong of me to point out what groups still practice this?? That is hateful to state the truth?
This is islamic law in many places and the definition of islam is "a. The people or nations that practice Islam; the Muslim world. b. The civilization developed by the Muslim world."
So I can't say that this is a muslim problem??
It is great when you talk about moral high ground.

It's odd how barbaric it seems in this day and age to follow two-thousand-year-old religious commandments, even though they fly in the face of logic, compassion and love.
I know I could never follow a religion whose holy book contained quotes like: "If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die" and "If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the girl because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man's wife. You must purge the evil from among you. "
Clearly that is a religion of hate.

Clearly, you did a quick Google search and did not realize that the Book of Deuteronomy also appears in the Torah. Judaism is hardly a religion of hate.

Depends on if you ask a Palestinian.
But in all seriousness, trying to claim Islam as a whole is a hateful, violent religion because of the interpretation of a small group of fundamentalists just proves a complete lack of understanding not only the basics of the religion, but also of the mindset of a majority of the people who follow it.
Imagine if the rest of the world only based their ideas of what Christians were like based off the rantings of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and those neo-nazi, government hating Christian groups that caused the Oklahoma City bombing. Or how about this great Christian institution:
This is not a question of which religion is more violent, but rather, in the best of American tradition, it's a fear of something that's "different" and rather than try to understand it, it's easier to just lump everyone together and blame them all.
We did it to the Native Americans, we did it to the Irish and Italians, we did it to the Japanese, we did it to African Americans...why stop now in the 21st century?

I do enjoy reading the Qu'ran and do find it to be quite inspirational.

Have no fear. we are pumping cell phones and people magazine and mcdonalds and disney and john wayne movies into muslim asia. muslim asia will be cranking out paris hiltons and cheetah girls and jessica simpsons and hannah montanas within a few decades. then we will be able to feel less uncomfortable with "muslim" society.
The skirmishes over Mosque in Manhatten is big in the news. it is a question of how impolite it is for american muslims to build Mosque near World Trade Center location. Let's leave it to the Manhattenites to bicker about how impolite this is. political correctness deems it is offensive for a mosque to be built so close to world trade centers. Were the Oklahoma City denizens so put off by Catholics when McVeigh blew up the federal building there? as a guy with deep protestant roots, I cannot see how they would not be.
